Other States Where Equal Access Is Allowed and Working

Thirty-one (31) states support Equal Access for homeschool students.

Top ranked schools are known for being open-minded and “thinking outside the box.”  Of the Top 15 ranked public school systems in our Nation, 13 of them allow Equal Access to homeschool students and 1 is working on legislation.

We believe it is time for Alabama to think outside the box in this area and others, and start doing everything they can to improve their schools and school-community relationships.

These 31 states currently allow equal access either by law by permission from their state athletic association

  • Colorado – legislation passed

  • Florida – legislation passed

  • Idaho – legislation passed

  • Illinois – legislation passed, must be partially enrolled

  • Indiana – legislation passed

  • Iowa – legislation passed

  • Maine – legislation passed

  • Maryland – allows private schools with homeschool athletes to compete against public schools.

  • Massachusetts – allowed by athletic association, no legislation necessary

  • Michigan – legislation passed, must be partially enrolled

  • Minnesota – legislation passed

  • Missouri – legislation passed, must be partially enrolled

  • Nebraska – legislation passed, must be partially enrolled

  • Nevada – legislation passed

  • New Hampshire – legislation passed

  • New Jersey – legislation passed

  • New Mexico – legislation passed

  • North Dakota – legislation passed

  • Ohio – legislation passed, must be partially enrolled

  • Oregon – legislation passed

  • Pennsylvania – legislation passed

  • Rhode Island – allowed by athletic association, no legislation necessary

  • South Carolina – legislation passed

  • South Dakota – allowed by athletic association, no legislation necessary

  • Tennessee – allowed by athletic association, no legislation necessary

  • Utah – legislation passed

  • Vermont – legislation passed

  • Washington – legislation passed

  • Wyoming – legislation passed
